Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 18, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Storywhisk ("Storywhisk," "we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information when you use storywhisk.com and our personalized children's storybook service (the "Service"). We care deeply about your family's privacy — especially your child's.

1. Information we collect

We collect only what we need to create and deliver your storybook and run our business:

2. How we use information

3. Photos & AI processing

To illustrate your child, the photo you upload is sent to our AI image-generation provider (currently Google's Gemini models) solely to produce the artwork for your book. We do not use your photos to train AI models, and we do not sell or repurpose them. The illustration is an artistic interpretation and may not match every detail of the original photo.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use children's information for targeted advertising. We share information only with:

5. Children's privacy (COPPA)

Storywhisk is intended for adults aged 18 and over — typically parents, guardians, and gift-givers. Children do not use the Service directly and we do not knowingly allow children to create accounts.

Because our books star a real child, a parent or guardian uploads a photo and a first name. By uploading a photo of a child, you confirm that you are that child's parent or legal guardian (or have their parent/guardian's permission), and you consent to our limited use of that information to create the book. We handle children's information consistent with the U.S. Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA):

  • What we collect about a child: a first name, optional theme/age details you choose to add, and the photo you upload.
  • How we use it: only to generate and deliver that child's storybook. We do not use it for advertising, and we never sell it.
  • Retention: we keep a child's photo and details only as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill your order and provide your account/library, and you can ask us to delete them at any time (see below).
  • Parental rights: you may review, correct, or delete your child's information, and withdraw consent, by emailing hello@storywhisk.com. We will honor verified requests promptly.

If you believe a child's information was provided to us without proper authorization, contact us at hello@storywhisk.com and we will delete it.

6. Data retention & deletion

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy — for example, to deliver your book, maintain your account and library, meet legal/accounting obligations, and resolve disputes. You can request deletion of your account, profiles, and uploaded photos at any time by emailing hello@storywhisk.com.

7. Security

We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your family's data and to limit access to those who need it.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, and to opt out of marketing. California residents (CCPA/CPRA): we do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and you may exercise your rights without discrimination. EU/UK residents (GDPR): we process your data based on consent, contract, and legitimate interests, and you may object or lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority. To exercise any right, email hello@storywhisk.com.

9. Cookies

We use essential cookies and limited analytics to operate the Service, remember your preferences, and understand usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling some may affect functionality.

10. Changes & contact

We may update this Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you. Questions or requests? Email us any time at hello@storywhisk.com.
